Winter has arrived and the great war for the Iron Throne as well. The seventh season of Game of Thrones heats engines with its first trailer of the new chapters. HBO has confirmed that we are facing the ‘Game of Thrones’ shorter season to date. The seventh will consist of only seven episodes. On the other hand, the eighth season will be the last and will have even less: six episodes. That is, there are only thirteen episodes left for the series to end.
Game of Thrones, the Great War is here
Season 7 of ‘Game of Thrones’ will be released on July 16, unlike other years that have been released in March or April. The reason? The arrival of the winter to the fiction causes that they need to record with a climate graver than in previous years and therefore the filming will begin later.
For the next installment, we will have to wait until 2018. According to Liam Cunningham told the Irish Independent: “Last season we will start shooting it, as far as I know, in September.” However, HBO even suggests that it could be delayed the following year.
The filming of the seventh season of ‘Game of Thrones’ began later than normal since this year the plots demand that the arrival of the winter to the West is reflected in its scenes.
Iceland, Spain and Northern Ireland are the three countries where the sequences of the new episodes have been filmed. The first recordings began in Northern Ireland, and more concretely in Belfast, where the Linen Mill Studios are in which scenes of interiors in the set are rolled. Also in this country were recorded sequences of exteriors. Subsequently, the HBO team went through Spain during the month of November, while Iceland recordings took place in January.
Will there be new characters?
Since the series has entered its final stretch, it would be logical not to introduce characters of great weight in the remainder of history, but we will see new faces to support the plots that lie ahead. The first major signing we had news was Oscar winner Jim Broadbent, who has recently talked about who will be his character and its importance. Tom Hopper, who may sound like watching him in ‘Black Sails’, will replace Freddie Stroma in the role of Dickon Tarly.
Cameo by Ed Sheeran
Popular British singer Ed Sheeran will perform a cameo in the seventh season. It will be a small role and although there are not many details about it, he himself has assured that he will not die in the series and that he will share a scene with Maisie Williams, the actress who plays Arya Stark and declared fan of Sheeran. In addition, he confirmed that he will sing a song and that the character of the young woman will be very pleased with his music.
