The new film by British director Guy Ritchie, ‘King Arthur: The Legend of Excalibur’, has already been released in some countries. The most recent version of the classic story of King Arthur and the sword Excalibur has great actors like Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law, Eric Bana, Astrid Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou and Aidan Gillen. After its launch, it can be said that it has not fulfilled the expectations of the studies. According to the reports, it is, taking it seems that the public will still opt for the Monty Python version.
The director, who was very successful recently with the two installments of ‘Sherlock Holmes’ has failed this time. According to our reporter, the film was expected to amass 25 million dollars in the United States in its premiere but it has not been so. Throughout the weekend only managed to raise 15 million and a half dollars in the United States while in the rest of countries where it premiered also failed, only got 29 million in the first weekend.
This means that for the two producers involved, Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow could lose up to 150 million dollars. The film cost only 175 million in its production to which it would have to add the money employed in marketing. Experts at the box office say the film will not make more than $145 million on a global scale. Expert Jeff Block commented: “King Arthur is a Hollywood economic disaster, he is the wrong director, the wrong actors, the wrong script, etc. This direction that took the study of “Game of Thrones” put on steroids did not Encourage anyone to see it in cinemas.”
What can we expect from ‘King Arthur: The Legend of Excalibur’?
The plot revolves around young Arthur (Charlie Hunnam), who does not know he is the heir to the throne since his father, the king (Eric Bana), was murdered by his own brother Vortigern (Jude Law) to usurp the throne. Arturo, who is part of a street gang realizes its origins when it manages to get the Excalibur sword out of the stone. He must decide to continue with his life or join the revolution together with Guinevere to regain his throne and retaliate against his uncle for the death of his parents.
